Wobbly

Pattern Design · Modular System

Wobbly is a pattern design project that explores how repetition, variation and controlled imperfection can generate rhythm and subtle visual movement within a structured system.

Developed as a four-tile modular collection, the project investigates how small shifts in geometry, scale and alignment can soften rigid forms while maintaining coherence and clarity.

Concept
The system is built around the idea of controlled irregularity. Each tile introduces slight “wobbles” that create a sense of motion and playfulness, while a shared visual language allows the patterns to function both individually and as a cohesive set.

Colour and form are treated as structural elements, guiding rhythm and flow rather than serving a purely decorative role.

Outcome
Originally conceived for ceramic tiles, the modular system allows the four units to be combined into dynamic compositions that adapt easily across different surfaces and contexts.

The collection is designed to translate seamlessly into applications such as textiles, interior surfaces or decorative objects, highlighting the versatility of pattern design when grounded in strong system thinking.
